The Old Testament History Of Israel

God´s Servant

Isaiah 41:
8 But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

Isaiah 49:
3 And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.

Christ The New Testament Israel

God´s Servant

Matthew 12:
    15 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;
16 And charged them that they should not make him known:
17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
19 He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.
20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.
21 And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.
Verse 17 says "That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet." Compare Verses 18 thru 21 (above) with the texts below.

Isaiah 42:
1 BEHOLD my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.

God´s Vine

Psalms 80:
8 Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.

The True Vine

John 15:
1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

The Seed Of Abraham

Isaiah 41:
8 But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

The Seed Of Abraham

Galatians 3:
16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Matthew 1:
1 THE book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
Literal Israel, by rejecting Christ, illustrated that they no longer had the faith of Abraham. As one can see, in the New Testament, what originally applied to the nation of Israel, is now applied to Jesus Christ. The Messiah is now the "seed." Therefore, Jesus Christ is Israel! The Old Testament History Of Israel

One Man Becomes Many

Israel is the name originally given to Jacob, a single man in the Old Testament

Genesis 32:
28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

Isaiah 41:
8 But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.
In the first book of Exodus one can read all the names of the sons of Israel that went into Egypt and how God blessed them so that they multiplied greatly. Israel, which was a name given to one man, had become a multitude of people.

Exodus 1:
1 NOW these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob.
5 And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.
7 And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.
By the time God worked through Moses to free the children of Israel, they had become a nation.

Exodus 4:
22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:
23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.

One Man Becomes Many

Christ was one man but He and His disciples have become a church

Galatians 3:
16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Acts 11:
21 And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.
24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

Acts 2:
47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Galatians 3:
29 And if ye be Christ´s, then are ye Abraham´s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
So all that belong to Christ are spiritual Israelites and heirs to the promise that was given to Abraham. Christ is the true Israel and His followers are the true Israelites.

8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words.

New Covenant Was Ratified By The Blood Of Jesus

Matthew 26:
19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.
    27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

1 Corinthians 11: NIV
25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me."

Hebrews 10:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Hebrews 12:
24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

Hebrews 13:
20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
The focus of the Old Testament, Israel, was on the sacrificial lamb which represented Christ. The focus of the New Testament is on Christ, the sacrificed Lamb of God.
