I S H What do fish do in the winter when lakes and ponds freeze over? I've often wondered how fish can live in these conditions. After a little study I found that fish are cold blooded like snakes, frogs, and turtles. Their body temperature changes with the water temperature. They usually don't freeze because of the oils in their body. Fish provide food for many other creatures such as eagles, otters, turtles, bears, and people all over the world. Fish breathe with gills located just behind their mouth and have no lungs like people do. They can live and breathe hundreds of feet deep. Many fish are very beautiful, and some people raise them in aquariums in their homes. The largest fish is the whale shark that is almost 60 feet long and weighs many tons. Some fish are so small you need a magnifying glass to watch them. Jesus fed 5,000 people with 5 small fish, and then fed His disciples fish for breakfast one morning. A large fish swallowed Jonah, and Peter paid taxes with money from a fish's mouth. God thought fish so important that He made them very beautiful for us to enjoy. Isn't God thoughtful. Thank Him today.
