Apologies for the break in blogging; I have been using the girls' dorm internet and Friday evening didn't work so well for that. We have finished the project and are on the homeward side of Oklahoma City right now, getting ready to start our last day of travel! The last day of work was a lot of cleaning up, finishing up the last bits of painting (we did get all three garages painted, much to our satisfaction), and getting ready to leave. I hope someone puts up some "before" and "after" pictures as the change really is amazing! All the demolition we wanted to do is done; one half of the bottom floor has two layers of drywall on the ceiling; floors have been fixed upstairs; and everything is clean, swept, and ready for the next group to come in.

Hi again everyone! Yesterday we took a trip to the Grand Canyon for our day off. Since most of us hadn't been there before, it was a really amazing trip! We took the bus up and down to the different overlooks, then stayed to watch the sunset. Since we had some clouds, it was a beautiful end to the day--hopefully we get some pictures up soon as it was truly a gorgeous sunset! Today we worked half a day on our different projects. I (Briana) haven't been down to the main building to see how things are going there, but I do know that we finished one garage we were painting and got almost all of the first coat done on the second one. Things are progressing well! Also we are almost done with our Week of Prayer--tomorrow is our last day. Really it is kind of sad--we're just getting to know the kids and make friends, and now we have to leave. But we are grateful for things such as Facebook to help us keep in touch. :) And we are grateful that everything is going well. Please pray for health for all of us, since several of us have been sick and others are catching the bug. But you can know for sure that God continues to bless! We'll get on tomorrow to update you again!

Good evening again everyone! We have had another great day here in Arizona. Fortunately it finally warmed up some--got into the 60s today and we enjoyed it greatly. This morning we finished cleaning up the cork from two freezers we demolished, swept everything up, and started on drywall, upstairs floors, and painting some garages in the faculty/staff housing. We were able to rotate jobs to some degree, so people didn't have to do one thing for the whole day. Things are looking much better now that most of the demolition is done, and it looks a lot cleaner now that we have the first layer of drywall up on the ceiling in the area we are drywalling. Only one minor injury today, so we are grateful. Dan had a bit of a close call with a pencil that almost scored a direct hit on his eye, but he is all right.
Week of Prayer continues to go well. We are on our second night and starting to get into the routine and make friends with the students. We hope and pray that they will be able to grow closer to God as we share with them!
Tomorrow we may not blog since we are going to the Grand Canyon and won't be getting back till late. It'll be a fun trip though, and will be nice to take a break from the work routine and use some different muscles from the ones we have been using. ;) Thanks for your prayers--keep them up! :)

Another day on the job! Today was a beautiful sunny day (I forgot to mention that yesterday we woke up to an inch of snow!) and it warmed up a lot, for which we are happy! We got most of the demolition done today in the lower story of the building we are renovating, in addition to a lot of other things--floors partially redone, duct work torn out, a huge pile of wood salvaged from the demolition, nails pulled out of the ceiling, and two dumptruck loads of junk hauled away! We've been keeping busy, needless to say. Tomorrow we hope to start some painting. This afternoon some of us went on a walk here on the academy campus and looked for petrified wood. We found some, too! It was lovely to get outside since we have been working mainly indoors. This evening was the first evening of our Week of Prayer. I can't say how the teen meeting went, since they are still meeting, but the juniors' meeting went very well. God is blessing and we look forward to getting to know the kids even better and hopefully, with His blessing, to reach their hearts for Him. Keep us in prayers, and we will try to keep you updated!

We are having some difficulties putting up pictures now, so Miss Kristen is uploading them to her Facebook account. Unfortunately, now I am having problems putting in the link! But if you're friends with Kristen Cook on Facebook, you should be able to see some pictures! Our apologies!

Hi all! Our huge apologies for not posting earlier--it has taken us a little while to figure out how to get on the web here at Holbrook. But we're back now, and Miss Kristen is working on uploading pictures, so hopefully we'll be able to keep you better updated. :)

                Today
we begin the drive to Arizona. Left the
church at 7:30 this morning, accompanied by all the well-wishes of our friends,
parents, and (for some) grandparents. As
I’m writing this (on the bus at 9:30 A.M.)
we’re in the middle of a drizzle—not bad weather, but a bit gloomy! Hopefully things clear up.

                The
good thing, though, is that so far the bus hasn’t broken down; we haven’t blown
out any tires; and we haven’t run out of gas.
Hehe…but since we blew a tire just going down to Atlanta last year, and
the bus apparently had problems before it got to us this morning (that’s why we
were a little late), there’s reason to be grateful even for these little
things!

Well, as most of you probably know, the McDonald Road Youth Sabbath School (and friends) are going on a mission trip to Holbrook Indian School, Arizona, this year. We've had our last planning meeting and are getting ready to leave in a week and a day. Even though we'll be able to make calls and talk to some of you all while we're in Arizona, we'll still have the blog. We even have an official trip photographer (Kristen Cook) so we may be able to get pictures up more frequently! We'll see...but we will try! :) Looking forward to keeping up with you all on our trip to Arizona!
