Amazing Sabbath!
March 10, 2007Our final hours here and an amazing Sabbath.
This has probably been one of the best Sabbath's of my life. First, we went into San Antonio to do a church service for the VBS kids. God helped me think of some good stories that really illustrated the need for keeping the sabbath. It was awesome to see those kids get it!
After lunch we headed off to find a new waterfall. We felt sorry for another group that had no transportation so we took them too. It ended up that there were five different groups at that waterfall. Two tour groups and three Adventist groups!!!!! One from Tennessee, one from Colorado and one from Oregon. The falls were incredible. I'll desribe when I have time.
On the way back we stopped at "our" house to meet with the city council chairman and the Ramos kids. We had said to meet them there at 5:30. When we got there (late) they had all been there since 4:00 they were so excited. We took tons of pictures of the kids looking all shy and stiff. Then we tied a string across the door and had the kids cut it with a knife. You should have seen the grin on their faces as they turned back to the camaras. There were a number of townspeople there too. Everybody was cheering and clapping. Then I made a little presentation of the keys to the oldest daughter and told her that we had set up a trust fund of 600 Bz. dollars for her education (it will cover about two years of school for her). She was just so shy yet clearly touched and grateful. Everybody kept commenting afterward at what a beautiful girl she is.
Then one of the city councilmen got up and promised to bring in water to their house within the week. Everyone cheered. Then Patty Schwarzers kids gave them a bunch of their toys. Then we sang Amazing Grace together. A number of our team were crying some sobbing. Even Dan Ford said he had to look away from Amy Cash to make it through the song. It was awesome.
Praise God. It really happened. The house looks beautiful. We finished everything but a three window shutters because we underestimated the number of hinges we needed.
